Simon Hughes is the Director of Education for the Archdiocese of Southwark. Prior to joining the Diocese he worked as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors, after completing a number of Ofsted inspections as a freelancer. This was while he was running an educational consultancy business, which centred, among other things, on educational technology. As an academic, Simon contributed to the training of a large number of teachers in his time at Canterbury Christ Church University, including at the inception of Teach First. He has contributed to the in-service training and development of a large number of serving teachers and headteachers through nationally accredited programmes such as Leadership Pathways. He is the author of a range of publications in the fields of Religious Education, subject leadership and educational technology. Simon lives in Kent and is married with four adult daughters.
