Our Catholic Life
Our Catholic Life
Everyone is warmly welcomed at our school, you are greeted with kindness, care and compassion and respect. We hold our school values in high esteem as they have come directly from the Gospel Values.
The Catholic life of the school is rich in opportunities for children to encounter God and to deepen their relationship with Him as a loving, compassionate Father. Through prayer, liturgies and Religious Education lessons and through the relationships and support for each other, we enable children to come to know and love God. Displays of work in RE are of very high quality and can be seen in classrooms and all around the school, including the school's main reception area. Each class has a prayer focus area, with a liturgical cloth in the appropriate colour.
Prayer and Worship
Prayer and worship are central to the daily life of our school. We aim to provide opportunities for children's spiritual growth and development through participation in worship. In this way we aim to help the children to come to value and respect the power of prayer and its place in their relationship with God.
Pilgrimage of Hope
Y6 led the most beautiful Celebration of the Word yesterday, held outside on our beautiful, St Thomas’ was the 19 school on Mrs. Whittle’s Pilgrimage to deliver the candle of hope to all schools in KCSP. The service was very poignant especially as they reflected on VE Day and our hope for peace in our world. Their prayers were heartfelt. Thank you to them all.

Our School Saints
At Thomas' we believe it is important to learn about the life of our school saint St Thomas and our House Saints. The children learnt how these important people devoted their lives to God.

Passion Play
Every year our year 6 children lead a liturgy for the whole school about the events leading up to Jesus' death. The children act out each event and then share a prayer and reflection, encouraging each class to consider how these events impact on our lives today.

Fratelli Tutti
Fratelli Tuti
During our collective worship time, the children focus on how we are all part of one family and everyone in God's family deserves our respect.
Laudato Si- Stewardship
At St Thomas', we promote the second encyclical of Pope Francis. We encourage the children to reflect on their own actions and the impact these have on our school community and our global common home. During our environmental afternoons, the children work as a team in their house groups to plant seeds, clear the school grounds, water and prune plants.

Talent Fair
Every year, our Mini Vinnies lead a collective worship based on the Parable of the Talents to the whole school. Each class then creates some resources to sell to other class including prayer cards, rosary beads and Easter cards. The money raised during this event is donated to charity.
