Autumn

Eco Afternoon: we enjoyed being part of a whole school initiative to care for the different spaces in our outside environment. Working in house teams, we tidied, weeded, swept, planted and much, much more!

Forest School: the children enjoyed building the fire; imprinting leaves, acorns and pine cones onto clay tiles; sketching; creating pictures using natural objects; den building; and we finished our day with hot chocolate and popcorn!

Celebration of the Word: well done to the children for delivering the message in the Parable of the Mustard Seed so beautifully. They explained how through our own small acts we can make a huge difference to Care for our Common Home. They also thanked the rest of the school for donating such an abundant array of Harvest goods, which will be shared with our local community.

Art: inpsired by portraits by famous artists, we created our own self-portraits!

Maths: we have been exploring place value and the different ways that 2-digit numbers can be represented.

Science: our investigation question was: "Do children with the longest feet also have the longest hands?" After making a prediction, we conducted a fair test and discussed our findings.

PE: we have been practising our sending and receiving skills by rolling a ball with our hands and kicking a ball with the inside of our foot with control and accuracy; using good hand-eye communication; and communicating with our partner

RE: we discussed how the creation story reminds us of our responsibility to care for the world around us and how we should praise God for the things that He has given to us.

Where My Wellies Take Me... inspired by the poem "Tewkesbury Road", the children used prepositions to describe our walk around Sevenoaks and sketched the different natural objects that they found along the way.

Celebration Day! We had a wonderful day learning Indian dances, Indian drumming patterns and listening to the sitar. We finished our day of celebration with a performance to the parents!
