Summer
We had another fun filled forest school day this week. The children made and ate chocolate bread and cooked apples over the fire; they also used clay to create woodland faces. We also all sawed disks which we decorated before giving our disk to someone else in the class.
This week we combined maths with art and used straight lines to create parabolic curves.
As part of our geography topic, we learnt that we can measure the wind speed by using an anemometer. We then made our own to test for the windy spots on the playground.
We have been very lucky this term to have the students of Sevenoaks School come and teach the class about debating. They have been learning how to clearly state their arguments; how to give their opposing opinions respectfully and most importantly listen to everything that is being said.
Our geography topic this term is Microclimates. We have been out and about in our school grounds thinking about how the physical features can make microclimates even in our playground.
To celebrate VE day, Year 6 went to meet the residents at Rockdale. They heard all about their memories of being children during World War II and how they celebrated VE day 80 years ago. We then ended by singing war songs together.
This term is all about cricket! We have been learning to field and bowl- moving onto batting next week- ready for the Sevenoaks inter-school competition in June. Fingers crossed!
