Autumn
Year 6 were given the challenge of creating their own 3D hearts, as part of our science topic: Circulatory system. I have been so impressed with the hard work that they put into them. We have everything from a cake, clay, 3D pen and 3D printer, even a pumping heart and one showing the blood moving through it. Well done everyone!
Year 6 wrote Remembrance poems on 11th November- remembering all those that gave their lives for us.
Fr Peter came to Year 6 this week to talk to the children about his ordination. The children loved hearing the story of his time in the seminary and had interesting questions for him.
To end our topic on coasts, we visited Reculver Bay. We saw the sea defences and discussed how some parts of the coast there have no sea defences and is being worn away. The children learnt all about the habitat and the creatures that live within the rockpools, before searching for shark fossil teeth.
We had our first Forest School Day of the year in October. They children had lots of fun making bread, hot chocolate and cooked apples on the fire.
Year 6 made models of coastal features with explanations of how they are formed.
As part of our science topic- Living things and their habitats- year 6 have been out in the playground becoming taxonomists. They have been identifying, classifying and collecting data on the trees and plants we have in our school grounds.
