We focus on listening, understanding and speaking. We use picture prompt cards to remind the children how to be a good listener:

We use Talk for Writing as a way to teach children the language patterns they will need to use in their written work further up the school. This starts with learning a story or text by heart (imitate), then making some small changes (innovate), until the child can create their own story or writing within that genre (independent).
